Joist tape for a quieter floor
A 50 mm wide, 30 m roll of self-adhesive joist tape for the contact surface between floor joists and subflooring.

Reduce rubbing at the joist interface
Floor movement and shrinkage can create squeaks where the subfloor rubs against the joists. The tape forms a continuous interface at this contact surface before the subfloor is fitted.
The manufacturer describes Joist Tape as a measure against squeaks. It does not provide other documented acoustic benefits and should not be specified as a substitute for a complete sound-isolating floor construction.
Apply before the subfloor
- Use clean surfaces free from dirt, ice and water.
- Apply the tape evenly, adhesive side down, across the full joist width.
- Fit the subfloor after the tape is in place.
- Construction adhesive cannot be used at the taped interface. The tape should be at least 10 °C / 50 °F during application.
The manufacturer also describes a separate tape applicator for installation. An applicator is not stated as included with this roll.
